Press Release: The goal of this year’s character development program sponsored by TSDI Enrichment Programs, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit/public charity, was to find ways for students from The Self-Defense Institute, along with their families, neighbors and friends to turn ideas of respect and kindness into "Random Acts of Kindness".
Teamwork - 2019 - Bullying Prevention/Awareness Insight
October is National Bullying Prevention Month. This month the world comes together to raise awareness of bullying prevention. The most effective bullying prevention efforts build a culture of caring and respect throughout the community. When adults respond quickly and consistently to bullying behavior, they send a message that it is not acceptable. Research shows that when adults are consistently aware and take action, bullying behavior, over time, can stop. Again, the keys are awareness, establish, understand and respect. Ignoring something does not make it go away. Take action every time. Make a difference for all, young and old, in the community. Help them find courage, confidence and their voice. Efforts to stop bullying are in effect every day of the year, not just during National Prevention Month. Let's encourage the next generation to be bold, courageous, thinkers and innovators. Motivate them to reach their potential by truly listening to what they say and care to make a difference for them and the community. Remember, children model how to treat their peers (and others) with kindness and respect, from watching adults' actions. Even if it seems like they are not paying attention, children are watching how adults manage stress and conflict; as well as how the adults treat friends, colleagues and families. Think about what they see. Teamwork matters.
